Chapter 40 Attorney Matt

The people of the Black Bear Gang grabbed their weapons and went to the first floor.

In an instant, Leo and Bucky were the only ones left on the second floor with six bodies laying on the floor.

Oh, right! Ol’ Tom was hiding somewhere in the room.

Bucky asked, “Leo, what now Let’s just get out of here”

“There’s no hurry!” Leo waved his hand and entered Ol’ Tom’s room.

At the moment, Ol’ Tom sneaked out from the compartment and was looking for opportunities to slip away.

He was startled when he saw Leo return.

He hurriedly raised his hands and said, “Hey, buddy! I mean you no harm, you don’t need to kill me! I also never committed any atrocities, I even never robbed before!”

“Relax, Ol’ Tom.

I’m not a bad guy.

I just felt taking seven days to make an identification was too long.

I can’t wait for that long.

How soon can you get the identification paperwork done”

Although Leo spoke nicely, his hand was fiddling with the gun on his waist.

Ol’ Tom blurted out without thinking, “Five days, it will take five days at most then I can finish all the paperwork!”

Leo frowned and Ol’ Tom’s expression changed again.

He cried out, “This really is the fastest! Although I have an insider to help me, the fastest time from submission of documents to getting social security card and driver’s license is four days.

Just this requires a large amount of additional money.”

“So, the time you need is only one day”

“Y-you can think so.

But that insider would only do it on my account, others can’t do it.” Ol’ Tom deliberately emphasized his importance.

“Alright, since you are that important I don’t want you to die accidentally in the upcoming shootout.

How about you stay with us for the night As long as tomorrow you can help me finish the paperwork, I’ll let you go.”

Ol’ Tom was slightly hesitant but the gunfire continuously rang out downstairs.

At the same time, Bucky under Leo’s command stood forward while clenching his fist.

Ol’ Tom saw Leo was preparing to get rough and could only give in.

“Okay, okay, I’ll listen to you! As long as you can get me out of this bar, I’ll listen to everything you say.”

Only then did Leo nod satisfyingly.

He approached Ol’ Tom with a smile and grabbed Ol’ Tom’s wrist.

He frisked Ol’ Tom making sure Ol’ Tom did not have any gun.

After that, he nodded at Bucky.

Bucky headed towards the side wall of Ol’ Tom’s room.

Under Ol’ Tom’s curious gaze, Bucky lifted his left and blasted at the wall after charging enough power.

The wall was instantly crumbled by Bucky as it let out a rumbling noise.

Bucky took a look at the situation downstairs.

He nodded at Leo after making sure it was clear before jumping down first.

Leo pulled the mouth wide open Ol’ Tom and jumped down too.

Leo and Bucky were fine after jumping down since they had good body constitutions.

As for Ol’ Tom, he, unfortunately, sprained his ankle.

However, Ol’ Tom did not dare to make a sound.

He could only endure it while limping to follow Leo and Bucky along the alley that headed to another end of Mingde Street.

The three of them were about to exit the alley.

All of a sudden, a figure descended from the sky by stepping on several fire escapes and finally steadily landed in front of the three of them.

The figure was wearing a red tights suit with two D’s interlocking embroidered on his left chest.

He was wearing a black mask that covered half of his head with two horns protruding on the forehead.

Leo immediately knew Attorney Matt had arrived when he saw this man.

Attorney Matt was Matt Murdock, a Hell’s Kitchen native superhero.

He had been blind since childhood and his father was killed, so he vowed to take revenge for all innocent victims.

During the daytime, he fought for justice as a lawyer.

In the night, he donned a red tights suit becoming Daredevil, and did his best to maintain the order of the night in Hell’s Kitchen.

He was blinded by a kind of radioactive waste, but he gained a strong sense of hearing, touch, smell, and taste.

After hard training, his skills were pretty good.

But at the same time, he had a fatal weakness.

A loud continuous noise could immediately render him powerless and make him even weaker than an ordinary person.

Thus, Leo and Bucky were not afraid of him.

It was child’s play for them to take down Daredevil.

However, Leo knew Matt was not a bad person and was not going to hurt him.

Instead, Leo exaggeratedly complimented Matt.

“Hello, I’m honored to meet you.

I guess you are the Daredevil that the thugs in Hell’s Kitchen are afraid of.”

Matt did not respond when he heard Leo’s flattery.

Instead, he pulled out the double-jointed metal stick on his right leg and combined it into a long pole.

He pointed the pole diagonally at Leo.

Every thug in Hell’s Kitchen knew although Daredevil was scary, he can still be beaten, bleed, and injured.

It was not as fearsome as everyone thought!

Hence, Matt felt Leo was mocking him!

“Oh! Daredevil, please stay calm.

We are not bad guys.” Leo put his palms forward while slightly pressing them down.

“I think you had the wrong people.

You are supposed to go to the battlefield at the back, not stopping the three of us.” Leo said.

“You still want to weasel out of this! This conflict happened because of you.

If you didn’t kill the Poison Wolf, how would there be the current war and bring such big chaos to Hell’s Kitchen”

“So you meant I should stand there and let Poison Wolf beat me to death Listen, Daredevil, I’m only here to do business in Hell’s Kitchen.

I just wanted to make two legal identifications and this is common in Hell’s Kitchen.

It happens at least a few times a month.

I have no intention of causing any disturbance, but the troubles came looking for me on their own.

I’m innocent and I’m not a bad person.”

Matt had extraordinary hearing and could hear every movement in Hell’s Kitchen.

He had long known everything that happened in the Pure Love Bar and knew that Leo was not lying.

In a sense, Leo was indeed innocent.

However, Leo did bring a great deal of chaos to Hell’s Kitchen, which clashed with what Matt was after.

After some consideration, Matt said in a loud voice, “You’re not wrong, but you did bring Hell’s Kitchen a lot of trouble! You have to leave Ol’ Tom behind.

You are not welcome in Hell’s Kitchen, you can go elsewhere to get your identification.”

Leo saw that Matt was being reasonable and took a step back while saying, “I’m in a hurry and I’m not familiar with this place.

It’s hard to find other people.

I’ll only need Ol’ Tom for one day and I’ll return him when all the paperwork is done tomorrow.

When I get the identification, I will leave here.”

But Matt brandished the metal pole in his hand after listening to Leo’s words.

He was clearly showing his disagreement.

Leo shrugged and spread his hands a little while saying, “Can’t we really talk about it anymore!”

Matt answered Leo with his action.

He stomped his feet and charged at Leo and the others.
