“Do you have empty air instead of a brain!” Bai Jun yells, “how in the world is this design going to work! Tell me, why exactly did you think this would be remotely feasible!”

Cheng Zhaoci can hear the voice even through the door left ajar, and is astonished, “I can’t believe he’s that scary when he’s angry!”

“Get used to it.

That’s how the Institute rolls,” Lu Yao says, already jaded, “they’re timid and shy, except when in their field.

Then they go berserk.”

“I heard once that a demi accidentally erased the data a researcher had at home.

Apparently, the male researcher then actually rushed to fight the demi to death… and knocked themselves out bonking into the demi’s shoulder, with a bleeding nose,” Lu Yao recounts as he peels a mandarin, “xiao-Ci, make sure you don’t end up like them.”

“I don’t think I will,” Cheng Zhaoci thinks he can sympathise with that male researcher, if he imagines the drafts he’s drawn getting ruined by accident.

In any case, “I don’t have the drive or talent for doing research.”

It just feels boring, and Cheng Zhaoci has no interest either.

To each their own, and he likes his comics.

That’s when he receives a message from the Zhou brothers – it turns out, the brothers didn’t see him at Wei Zhuo’s, and so went to where Cheng Zhaoci was living before, only to find both Xiao Ji and He Huaijian missing from the house as well.

There was a moment they both thought Cheng Zhaoci was actually found by the ‘avid’ readers and was done in… Well, not lethally, which would be too dramatic, like, it’s just a comic…

Anyway, Cheng Zhaoci quickly reassures them he’s fine with a message, then he thinks and turns to Lu Yao, “Grand Marshal, sir.”

“‘Granddad’ is fine,” Lu Yao replies.

“Oh, then, granddad, can my friends come over They’re also male, and draw comics with me,” Cheng Zhaoci feels slightly awkward still when calling Lu Yao granddad in public.

“Yeah, why not,” Lu Yao doesn’t care unless they’re shemales or demis.

Cheng Zhaoci then tells the Zhou brothers the route to the mansion, and says he’s at the Grand Marshal’s, so they don’t have to worry.

“Where did he say he was again” Zhou Luoluo is rubbing his eyes.

“The Grand Marshal’s,” Zhou Xiaobao replies frankly.

“He’s already nudged himself into the family!” Zhou Luoluo is in shock, his tone shaking, “like, that is someone else’s grandparent!”

“Oh no, I don’t think I’m brave enough to visit a Grand Marshal,” Zhou Luoluo tugs at Zhou Xiaobao’s sleeves to gather courage from his cousin.

Clearly, though, he forgets that Zhou Xiaobao is even more deeply socially anxious than he is, “you-you’re not brave enough to go either Then, let’s just go home.”

“We can’t!” Zhou Luoluo pulls Zhou Xiaobao back, “do you not want to draw your comic anymore Your questions you have to ask Do you still want your comic to continue”

Zhou Xiaobao “…”

He doesn’t even remember how he arrived at Lu Yao’s mansion with Zhou Luoluo.

He only knows that, upon seeing the legendary Grand Marshal, all he could feel is an urge to run away.

Lu Yao can see how his presence is overwhelming the two teenagers, and very generously tells them he still has to work, and leaves the space to the three young ones.

It takes a bit of time after Lu Yao departs for Zhou Xiaobao to recover.

Then he shows Cheng Zhaoci his holodeck, “can you give my characters a look”

Cheng Zhaoci takes one look… just one, and almost has an out-of-body experience seeing the outrageously large eyes.

Well, this sure feels like a retro romance manga.

Thick eyelashes, eyes large enough for half a face, filled to the brim with bling.

Zhou Xiaobao really is a genius.

He’s already got all the secrets down pat without nary a guiding hand from him.

This sort of ‘big eye moe‘ bling-bling art style will appeal to lots of young girls young shemales and demis.

Oh God, and that chin that looks like it'd bore straight through the screen! And super duper long legs!

“So what’s your comic going to be called” Cheng Zhaoci rests his head on his upraised arm.

To be honest, he’s never been receptive to this kind of art style, but clearly, it’s a personal thing.

Zhou Xiaobao has the foundations of drawing characters down pat, and the character’s physical proportions don’t look off, at least.

Cheng Zhaoci can’t help but recall how, in his past life, a certain mangy dog of a ‘Party A’ gave him this highly distorted, almost E.T.-looking picture that is just filled to the brim with bling.

That Party A wanted Cheng Zhaoci, Party B, to draw something like that.

Eugh… Cheng Zhaoci can feel his stomach just churning at the recollection.

“‘The Devilish Male Has Taken Me Forcefully,’ what do you think” Zhou Xiaobao asks with this very serious look on his face.

Beside him is Zhou Luoluo, gasping; the butterflies in Cheng Zhaoci’s stomach are dancing forevermore.

“‘Aesthetique Tragici,'” Zhou Xiaobao adds, “I’ve finished the storyline while you were hiding.

I think I can finish the first chapter in a week.”

“You can do it!” Cheng Zhaoci nods in support.

“Can what! I’ll never check out something with this kind of story!” Zhou Luoluo can’t take it anymore, “Cheng-ge, don’t you think he really needs an editor!”

“Don’t try to impose standards for a saga on a feel-good story.

It’s full of plot holes, but it’s also an exhilarating read,” and also, it’d probably take the heat off of his own work for now… Which is something he keeps to himself.

He pats Zhou Xiaobao on the shoulder, reassuring him, “I’m sure this comic will be a big hit.

Good luck!”

Zhou Luoluo “…”

“Oh, by the way, why did you move here” Zhou Xiaobao seems to suddenly recall, “is Wei Zhuo on a mission”

“How did you know”

“There have already been four cases of kidnapping.

The pirates are getting too cocky; the Federation cannot keep turning a blind eye,” Zhou Luoluo adds, “Wei Zhuo must not be on the Capital planet anymore if you’re at the Grand Marshal’s.”

“True, but then, I wonder how long the war will last,” Cheng Zhaoci asks, dejected.

His ‘honeymoon’ just began, and they’ve already been separated.

Woe is him.

“You can go visit him,” Zhou Luoluo says, “males are not allowed near the frontline, except when they have authorisation from a Grand Marshal or above.

You’re living with one right now.”

“He might be back in a few days though, does he really need to” Asks Zhou Xiaobao, “why not just make video calls instead”

“Sure,” Cheng Zhaoci replies, but he isn’t discounting the idea of visiting either.

“Oh, right! And I must also make the demi’s shemale kid exceptionally smart in the plot.

He’ll be grade S when his aptitude is tested, and look exactly the same as the male lead! Then the male will immediately figure out it’s his own son!” Zhou Xiaobao suddenly drags the topic back onto his comic.

Generally… It’s almost impossible for a shemale and a male to look remotely alike, but Cheng Zhaoci is too familiar with the development, and says, “sure, why not”

‘It just can’t,’ replies Zhou Luoluo in his mind.
